Mary Izett is a Certified Beer Judge recognized by the international Beer Judge Certification Program and recent President of the Malted Barley
Appreciation Society of New York City. Her longtime love of craft beer inspired
her to begin homebrewing and to travel the world learning about beer. Motivated
by the lack of availability of craft beer compared to wine at finer restaurants,
she began studying the subtleties of pairing beer with food and formed a beer
and food study group in New York which helped to inspire the formation of The
New York City Degustation Advisory Team.
Mary leads food pairing sessions twice
a month throughout the region in which she combines education of and appreciation
for the complexities of the relationships between craft beer and food. In addition,
she teaches craft beer appreciation classes for women. She has a Bachelor of
Science in Biology from the University of Georgia and two years of graduate
study in Biochemichal Horticulture and continues to share her love and knowledge
of craft beer on her blog: www.mylifeoncraft.com.
